Attitude

How are some people able to cope and get along better than others? I believe it’s their attitude. Having a positive attitude has helped me in my life and those of some of my friends.

One of my close friends would always say, “It is what it is” and go on with a positive approach to a negative situation.

Sometimes it’s tough to be positive when given a negative viewpoint. I don’t know if it relates to ego or just a belief in oneself that helps to have a positive attitude.

I have liked to draw since I was very young. I remember showing my mother a picture of something I had drawn that I thought was pretty good, and she said, "What is it?" My mother was a perfectionist and almost a concert pianist, having been invited to play at Carnegie Hall. My thinking was that she didn’t know anything about art.

I used to dream that I was locked in a room with no lights, windows, or doors… but I could always figure out how to get out.

That mind set continued until one day I couldn’t figure a way out. Even with that difficulty and others to follow, I tried to have a positive attitude like my friend, “It is what it is”.

We all have choices in life, some turn out positive, and some negative. Throughout life we are faced with opposites… positive ions versus negative ions, good versus evil, blame versus responsibility, and Democrat versus Republican. Your attitude will make a big difference.
